| The Magic Alambic rum distillery is a family business that was created in 2003 by Elisa and Michel Gabrel. Thanks to the dedication and competence of our Thai manager Mee Sak Diewwanich and the Thai authorities, we have been able to open the ONLY rum distillery in Thailand. |
| We guarantee that the sugar cane used only comes from Thailand and nowhere else. In contrast to industrial distilleries, we carefully select our sugar cane by mixing three types of cane so that we obtain rhum agricole of exceptional quality. This quality is recognised and appreciated by holidaymakers who have come from all round the world. After we have extracted the sugar cane juice, we let it ferment without either yeasts or molasses. Once the fermentation process has ended, the fermented juice is distilled in a special alembic, which was expressly made in France for distilling sugar cane. |
| The rum we produce using this process in placed in a stainless steel vat for a minimum of 6 months in order to refine its taste. It’s then bottled at a strength of 40 degrees, according to Thai regulations. Our rum is bottled on the premises. For our rhum agricoles with a flavour of pineapple, lemon, orange, or coconut, we guarantee that the production does not use either colorants or fruit essences. Unfortunately, we can’t divulge our production secrets. |
| Product Labelling |
| The distillery is on Thai soil, and therefore the labels have to be in Thai. This is according to the law. At the same time, it’s forbidden for the labels to mention the phrase rhum agricole; only white alcohol is permitted. We apologize for this and regret that we are unable to make labels in English or French. Thanks to the symbols on the bottles you will be able to recognize the flavour of your rum. In English these are: Lemon, Orange, Coconut, Pineapple and Natural. |
| Founding of the Distillery |
| The Magic Alcool distillery was founded in 2003. The sales of our products was only allowed in 2004 , and that is the reason why we are unable to offer aged rum. However, this year, we are able to offer 2-year old rhum agricole. It has an extraordinary flavour, and an impossible-to-beat taste, all of which holds great promise for the years to come. It is a pity that we are unable to be classified under the rhum agricoles of Martinique and Guadeloupe . |
